Cut a few calories, cut a few pounds

Category: Fitness and Nutrition – Cayge – 9:02 am

A lot of (really good) Weight Management programs stress the value in tracking your daily caloric intake.  Since it’s such a tedious task, however, it’s often a huge selling point for trendy diets to boast that you be successful without ever counting a thing.  If you’re rather not spend your days with your nose in a calorie book, here is an alternative:

Now, please don’t pelt me with tomatoes, but even this plan requires some calorie counting, just to a much lesser degree. We all know that there are 3,500 calories in a pound of fat (lie to appease me if you have to). So, with simple math we know that to lose this pound that over the course of a week we need to merely cut 500 calories a day. Easy enough, right?

Here’s what you do – With each meal you’d normally have, try to trim as many calories off as possible so that by the end of the day you’ve shaved off the necessary 500. If you eat 3 times a day, that’s only 167 calories a meal. Considering that a can of Coke as 140 calories alone, this should be a piece of cake. Wait, too many calories in cake, should be a cup of yogurt. (sigh, i need to hire some comedic writers)

Easy substitutions can help you out. Get to know how many calories are in your favorite toppings and side dishes and begin eliminating the heavy hitters. You’ll be amazed at how easy this is and how you can still enjoy the foods you love.
